Spacetime Chronicles is an independent animated feature film directed by Stefano Bertelli and produced in Italy using a handcrafted paper animation technique. Developed over several years, the project combines traditional cut-paper animation with digital compositing to create a distinctive visual style inspired by dreams, memories and fragmented realities.
The story follows Fred, a man trapped in a mysterious limbo between life, dreams and memory. Guided by a cat named Freud, he travels through surreal locations, encounters symbolic characters and revisits moments from his past. Throughout the film, reality constantly shifts, creating a journey that explores identity, regret, imagination and the passage of time.
Unlike conventional animation productions, Spacetime Chronicles was created independently with a small team and a low-budget production approach. Every scene was designed around handcrafted paper elements, creating a unique aesthetic that reflects the personal nature of the project.
The film has received international recognition through selections at major festivals including Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Fantasia International Film Festival, Anima Brussels, BAFICI and other international events dedicated to animation and independent cinema.

Stefano Bertelli is an Italian filmmaker and animation director known for his distinctive handcrafted paper animation style. Since 2002 he has directed music videos and visual projects for international artists including Eminem, Pink Floyd, Robbie Williams, Simply Red and Lindsey Stirling.
